Pregnancy and postpartum can feel like a confusing time. With a changing physical body, hormones, emotions and so many expectations, many women find solace in being with other mothers who can share their journey. That is why the Hancock Health Wellness Center’s FREE Ready, Set, Stroll program is now available through both the Greenfield and McCordsville locations!
Why is walking so helpful?
Physical exercise, especially something gentle like walking, is a great way to relieve stress and keep your body strong and healthy. During pregnancy, walking can help prevent SI joint aches and pains, strengthen back muscles, and even help your baby to get into just the right position for birth.
For postpartum women, walking is recommended because it can help to strengthen and tone abdominal muscles as well as other muscles and joints throughout the body. Walking also boosts mood and energy and promotes better sleep. Something that any parent or parent-to-be will find helpful!
When you start a walking program with a group like ours, you will find that it becomes easier to fit exercise into your schedule, even with your baby in tow! And getting outdoors with your baby is also a great way to bond and keep both of you feeling healthy and vibrant.
But Ready, Set, Stroll isn’t just about the walk!
Walking alone can be beneficial, but when you join Ready, Set, Stroll, you get the bonus of learning from experts who can help you understand more about caring for yourself and your baby during pregnancy and postpartum. Every session of Ready, Set, Stroll is led by a guide who specializes in an area such as nutrition, fitness, physical therapy, mental wellness or maternity and postpartum care.
Mothers and mothers-to-be will also get the comradery that comes from joining a group of people who are going through the same experience. Mental wellness, especially during the postpartum period, is incredibly important and one of the best things you can do is get out of the house to avoid feelings of isolation or loneliness. They say it takes a village to raise a child, so come and join Ready, Set, Stroll to find yours!
Ready to stroll?
Hosted by Hancock Health Wellness Centers, the Ready, Set, Stroll program meets on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:30am at the Beckenholdt Park parking lot in Greenfield.
