This Piña Colada Recovery Shake is the ultimate summer drink. It’s light, refreshing and will immediately transport you to the beach!
So, anyone else love piña colada’s? Like, love them? Or getting caught in the rain?! (Sorry, I had too). My mom loves piña colada’s. However, she usually makes them with a mix, which can be overly sweet and not taste the best, right?
Well, last week, I had fresh pineapple, full fat coconut cream, limes and shredded coconut. It was also ridiculous warm and beautiful outside, so naturally, I had to make a piña colada!
Why recovery shake, you ask? Why not just a fun piña colada smoothie? Well, why NOT a recovery shake? Now that summer is here, I want something slightly sweet and refreshing, all the time, especially post workout. Pineapple contains bromelain, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Combined with the coconut cream, which also contains healthy fats, you’ve got a tasty anti-inflammatory powerhouse, perfect for post workout.
The protein powder helps repair/build muscle and if it contains BCAA’s, like the brand I used, even better! For this recovery shake, I initially used Core Organics Coconut Colada fruit infused water. It’s organic, vegan, and gluten free! If you don’t have Core Organics, using coconut water will make just as tasty of a shake.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup Coconut Colada Core Organic OR Coconut Water
- 1/3 heaping cup FULL FAT Coconut Milk
- 1 Scoop Vanilla Protein Powder (I used Vega Sport)
- Juice of 1/2 a lime
- 1 Cup Frozen Pineapple
- Extra ice, if you like a thick smoothie
Directions
- Mix all ingredients into high speed blender.
- Enjoy!
