Improve Employee Physical and Mental Well-Being: We Can Help

With healthcare costs soaring, many employers are looking for way to keep their employees healthy before they run into expensive medical problems. Workplace wellness programs can be the answer to happier, healthier and well employees. The Hancock Wellness Center Workplace Program stands ready to answer the call with custom-tailored physical and mental well-being programs and expanded medical services to ensure timely, convenient participation.

Connections between physical and mental well-being

More and more wellness programs are targeting both physical and mental health. Mental health and physical health are intricately tied to each other. Good mental health can positively affect physical health. Poor mental health, on the other hand, can be detrimental to the body. Depression is linked to many chronic ailments, including diabetes, asthma, cancer and cardiovascular disease. Poor mental health can affect the body’s ability to sleep, and it may be tied to addictive behaviors such as smoking. Mental health can even sabotage physical health by making it harder to seek care, exercise or eat right.

Physical health has its own connection to mental health. Health issues such as disease, chronic pain or a chronic disease that weighs heavily on the mind can lead to depression and other mental health problems. A vicious cycle begins, making it harder to achieve good health and well-being.

How can Hancock make a difference in employees’ well-being? Check out some of the programs designed to make employee health easy and accessible. Remember, an investment in healthy employees results in lower healthcare costs and ultimately a happier, more productive workforce.

Onsite employer-based clinics and wellness screenings

Raise your hand if you’ve put off certain screening exams because you simply don’t have the time to go to a lab or other medical facility. (Don’t worry – most of us raised our own hands.) Proactive, onsite health screenings can help employees find health concerns before they develop into serious medical issues. Hancock Health can bring the experts onsite, offering routine screenings such as:

  • Blood pressure screening
  • Blood sugar screening (diabetes)
  • Total cholesterol screening
  • Back pain prevention
  • Basic vision screening
  • Foot health
  • Personal health education
  • Men’s and women’s wellness-related issues

Hancock Health can also come to the workplace for simple primary care and occupational health care. Our clinics can provide laboratory care, wellness programs, mental health programs and more. Occupational health services can cover annual public safety exams, return-to-duty exams, substance abuse testing or vaccines.

Certified medical fitness centers

Our three Hancock Wellness Centers are the only Medical Fitness Association–certified centers in the region. These centers go beyond your typical gym setting, with qualified programming designed to work with all members, regardless of their health status. Our Hancock Wellness Center staff members are trained to address multiple areas of health and wellness, referring members to clinical programs within the Hancock Health network to complement their journey to happiness, wellness and health.

The Hancock Wellness Center Workplace Program offers several different workplace wellness plans for employers who want to invest in their employees’ health. By introducing quality programs at convenient locations, employers can improve their employees’ health, morale and productivity.
