Hancock Wellness Center’s Clinical Programs Keep You Healthy

When a disease or chronic illness comes knocking on your door, it can feel like a blow to not only your physical health, but your mental health as well. Feeling like you can’t do the things you used to do is terribly difficult, not to mention the physical impact of many illnesses and side effects of medications. If you’re looking for something to help you regain strength, balance, or improve your health and peace of mind but need expertise due to a medical condition, look no further than the clinical programs at Hancock Wellness Centers.

Live your best life

The Hancock Health system is unique in that it promotes a holistic approach to wellness. Holistic means taking into account each element of the body and mind. Diet and nutrition, exercise, and the care of a physician are all important aspects of the overall health of the human body.

“We understand that everyone’s health and wellness journey is different,” said Abby Glazier, exercise specialist. “We take the guesswork out of fitness and nutrition and prescribe programs that lead to healthier and happier clients.”

Clinical programs available at the three Wellness Center locations allow those with Parkinson’s, cancer, diabetes, and other high-risk factors to engage in healthy physical activity in a safe environment. Patients with Parkinson’s can strengthen their muscles and agility and maintain balance using the proven methods found in Rock Steady Boxing Classes. Not only does this provide a fun and goal-driven environment, but the classes are held by a coach who understands the varying levels of disease progression.

If you suffer from arthritis, you know it can cause painful joint inflammation that makes performing daily tasks difficult. Hancock Wellness Centers offer both Tai Chi and water fitness instruction specifically created for those with arthritis. Improving strength and flexibility as well as stamina through gentle movements can provide relief, allow those living independently to move with more ease, and possibly slow the progression of this disease.

Safety is the top priority of the Hancock Wellness Centers and working directly with the Hancock Health System provides them with the unique advantage to serve patients in a multifaceted way. These centers are Medically Certified Fitness centers, which means they have had to ensure the safety and quality of their programs. Exercise specialists who have expertise in multiple disciplines are available for all patients attending clinical programming. These programs are open to the public as well as all patients of Hancock Health.

One-stop shop

“Physicians recommend a healthy diet and daily exercise to their patients, if not everyone,” says Glazier. “We provide that service on an individual basis as part of these clinical programs. Our integration with the hospital’s Electronic Medical Records system also keeps the doctor up to date with the client’s progress from start to finish. This positions us to be your one-stop-shop for all things health and wellness.”
