Hancock Health is excited to announce that an agreement has been finalized to purchase the assets of Family Fun & Fitness (5151 W US Hwy 40, Greenfield). Starting in July 2019, Hancock Wellness Center, part of the Hancock Health organization, will assume operations of Family Fun & Fitness, while leasing the building from owner Randy Hood. The purchase agreement includes the sale of all equipment and membership contracts, and is part of Hancock Health’s strategic initiative to expand its reach further into New Palestine and the southwest region of Hancock County. Earlier this year, Hancock Health announced its plan to purchase land at the corner of 600W and Route 52, where a new facility will be built that houses an additional Wellness Center and expanded physician offices. Current plans are to open the new facility in mid to late 2020.
“We are thrilled to have found a mutually beneficial deal for Hancock Wellness Center and Family Fun & Fitness to come together,” says David Flench, director of Hancock Wellness Center. “Operating that facility for about a year prior to our new facility opening will provide a unique opportunity for us to better understand the New Palestine community and to build relationships with the existing members of Family Fun & Fitness. We intend to take the great foundation for fitness that they have developed over many years, continue that success, and add our medical fitness programming and expertise.”
“My family and I are excited for the new chapter of fitness in our community to begin,” says Hood, “and we couldn’t have found a better organization to do this through than Hancock Health. We are proud of what we have established here over the past 25 years, and trust that Hancock Health will continue that path.”
The Hancock Wellness Center management team will take the next few months to learn more about Family Fun & Fitness’s operations, programs, facility, members, and staff in order to prepare for the July 1 transition. Hancock Wellness Center currently operates two facilities, the original one in Greenfield and the newest one in McCordsville, both of which are Certified Medical Fitness Facilities through the Medical Fitness Association, among only 47 nationwide who have achieved that designation.
“We believe building a healthy lifestyle takes a balanced combination of physical activity, proper nutrition, stress management, and wellness education,” says Wellness Center general manager Yvette Dixon. “Our services are designed to provide individuals with the tools needed to reach their personal health and wellness goals. That is accomplished by maintaining all of the traditional fitness services and programs such as group fitness classes and personal training, and adding programs for chronic diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, and hypertension, as well as working with patients who have recently finished physical therapy or cardiac rehab. We are eager to bring the medical fitness model to the New Palestine community.”
