Power of water workouts

Water workouts are a great way to gain the benefits of increased cardiovascular function while maintaining joint health and flexibility. Water provides the opportunity to defy gravity by relieving about 90% of your body weight. You can move in new ways while the resistance of the water itself improves strength in every muscle of the body. The best part? If you’re a member of the Hancock Wellness Centers, working out in the water doesn’t just mean swimming laps.

Aquatics classes available

We offer many opportunities to dive into our swimming pools. We even have clinical programs for those diagnosed with chronic diseases such as arthritis. Arthritis sufferers can benefit greatly from attending our aquatics classes, as this type of workout is inherently easy the joints while improving joint mobility and muscle strength. We offer group classes, such as Aqua Arthritis, specifically tailored to improve symptoms for arthritis sufferers. Other classes offered include:

  • Lap swimming
  • Aqua Tabata (high-intensity interval training (HIIT) in the water)
  • Aqua Cardio and Weights
  • Aqua Yoga
  • Aqua Fit
  • Water Walking
  • Aqua Walk and Core
  • Aqua Circuit
  • Aqua Blast
  • Aqua Pilates
  • Aqua Walk and Tone

Water class offerings vary between each of our three locations, but all include a mix of gentle and more intense water workouts. We even offer Kids Fit aquatics so the whole family can enjoy the benefits of a water workout. Swimming lessons are also available and are a great way to continue to improve upon water skills during the winter.

Whether you’re bored with your current workout routine or you want to supplement land workouts with something a little gentler for the joints, make sure to check out the aquatics programming available at your local Hancock Wellness Center. We’re sure it will provide you with the opportunity to have some fun this winter while maintaining or improving your overall health and well-being.
