Benefits of Meeting With A Dietitian

Benefits of Meeting With A Dietitian

Is meeting with a Registered Dietitian worth the time and money? We’ve got five reasons why you should invest in yourself and your health by scheduling a consultation.

1.) You are meeting with a certified/licensed professional in the field of nutrition

Dietitians use an evidence-based approach to help you reach your goals in a safe and healthy manner.

     Education Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree from an ACEND accredited college
    • Completion of an accredited supervised practice program commonly paired with graduate-level coursework
    • Passing of a national examination administered by the CDR
    • Mandatory 75 hours of continuing education due every 5 years

2.) Nourish your body

Meeting with a dietitian can help you identify a way of eating that supports your goals and emphasizes a healthful eating pattern to provide your body with the nutrients it needs while working towards your goals.

3.) Disease prevention

There are many chronic diseases that can be managed or prevented through nutrition and exercise.  A dietitian can discuss an eating pattern that can help improve many factors that influence disease onset and the symptoms experienced. Some of these factors include body weight, blood glucose levels, blood pressure, blood lipid levels, and more.

4.) Help in meeting fitness goals

A dietitian can help you achieve the results you are looking for by setting goals around your food intake and working with you to meet those goals.  Whether you are training for a marathon, want to improve your play on the football field, or are beginning to exercise for the first time, nutrition can play a significant role in the results that you see.

5.) The set up for further success

The goal of a dietitian is to not only help you reach your goals but to teach you how to do so on your own. Meeting with a dietitian can help you better understand your body and what you need by nutrition education that is tailored for your specific needs.
